LEEDS IRISH CENTRE
York Road - Leeds LS9 9NT -  phone: 0113 248 0887

This unassuming venue is probably the best place in Leeds to see a band.
From Oasis to Elastica, Robert Cray to Curtis Mayfield, Donovan to John Martyn,
John McLaughlin to the Brecker Brothers, Joe Strummer to The Beautiful South, they've all played here.

About one mile out of the city centre on the York Road (A64) it's on the left if you're approaching from the North
or on your right as you come from town (drivers must double-back under the dual carriageway).

LUKE DOUCET

Luke Doucet’s song ‘Cleveland ‘was named by Nick Hornby as one of the
Top Ten Songs of the Year, The Independent in the UK named the album, Blood’s Too Rich, as one of the Best Albums of 2008, while the Toronto Star named the album as the Number One Musical Moment of the Year.

Hornby says on his New York Times playlist blog: “Doucet’s album
Blood’s Too Rich sounds to me as if it comes straight out of 1977 – not
The Ramones/Talking Heads/Clash take on that year, but the Graham Parker/Dire Straits/Tom Petty version of it. Somehow, punk managed to
reinvent rock music too, made it sound fresher and less pompous.
Doucet is a terrific guitarist, as fluid and melodic as Mark Knopfler back in
the day; but he’s a proper songwriter too. ‘The Comandante’ has even
been accepted as a substitute for Queen, on a good day, and now we’re approaching the awards season it must stand every chance of picking up
the coveted Non-Glads Song of the Summer prize.

THE JIMI HENDRIX

40th ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL SHOW

THE HAMSTERS PLAY JIMI HENDRIX - supported by THE HAMSTERS!

The guitar, bass and drums trio The Hamsters have long been established as one of our premier live attractions.

Although a band in their own right - playing Rock, Blues and Americanathey've also long widely been regarded

as the UK's leading interpreters of Jimi Hendrix's music. On their Jimi Hendrix 40th Anniversary Memorial Tour, they'll be performing a show of his songs to commemorate his passing 40 years ago in September 1970. The band will 'support' themselves by first playing a set of their own brand of music, then return for a full Jimi show!

"Nobody does the music of Jimi Hendrix better" – The Times

"The Hamsters are fabulous: one of Britain's very best live bands" - Bob Harris, Radio 2
